On Wednesdays we wear pink

Hello everyone!

Hope you're all doing well and keeping warm in this super long and cold winter!

If you know me you know my absolute favorite color is pink, everything must be pink lol. So when I saw the trend of pink coats and major retailers starting to stock them, I knew I had to have one. Recently I was browsing Express at my local mall and spotted this super cute pink coat on sale, tried it on, loved it and purchased it right away (side note: Express is having a great end of season clearance; definitely check it out).

I decided to style the coat with neutral colors, since I thought the coat was already making a statement. I bought this grey cable knit beret from Ralph Lauren a few years back when I used to work there, I thought the grey and the pink complimented each other really well.

I added in my bright pink Fossil bucket bag my parents bought me on my 21st birthday to add a pop of color to an over neutral outfit.

How cute is this French girl top from Zara, I got it in sale for only $12!

Disney gave me unrealistic expectations about hair.

Hello everyone!

I was getting quite a few questions about my hair care so I thought I'll just do a blog post about it and list out everything I use for my hair and how I maintain it.

How true is the title of my blog post! How did the Disney princesses manage to escape the clutches of evil queens, go on crazy adventures, live underwater (Ariel, I'm looking at you), all whilst maintaining their gorgeous, flawless and silky locks. My hair definitely does not look like that no matter how much I try to tame it...wish I had access to the princess' hair care, guess my routine will have to do for now.

A little background on my hair type, it's wavy/curly, gets really frizzy and is quite long, goes down to my back and oh my God it's such a struggle to make it look good!

Just a few tips that definitely have helped me grow out my hair and keep it healthy:

  • I only wash my hair 3 times a week.
  • Always use heat protectant before using any heat styling tools.
  • Do a deep treatment at least once a week.
  • Air dry my hair 90% of the time.
  • Using hair targeted supplements.
A little disclaimer before I get in to the products I use everything that I use works for my hair but it might be different for your hair type.

First starting with shampoo and conditioner, I love the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette line specifically the moisturizing range. The shampoo makes my hair feel clean but not stripped at all and the conditioner is excellent, super moisturizing and my hair always feels soft after using it. Moreover it doesn't break the bank either.

I definitely use deep conditioners at least once a week and I love the Carol's daughter Monoi repairing hair mask, not only does it leave my hair feeling super soft and moisturized, I definitely notice less breakage and added bonus it smells like musk which I love. However, it is quite expensive at $32 so another great cheaper alternative that I use is the Aussie 3 minute miracle, which is also very moisturizing, smells like coconuts and only $3!

Apart from using a deep conditioner, I do oil my hair at least once a week. My favorite is coconut oil, I just pour out some in a bowl, heat it up in the microwave and massage all into my scalp and on the lengths of my hair, leave it in over night and take a shower in the morning. Moreover, I do also love the Carol's daughter Lisa's Hair Elixir, that I try to use overnight once a week as well, I love how refreshed my scalp feels after using this oil, you do feel a pleasant tingly feeling on your scalp after applying it.

I don't wash my hair everyday because doing so strips your hair of it's natural oils. My hair doesn't get greasy very easily so I can get away with not washing it for 2-3 days but using a dry shampoo definitely helps my hair look cleaner for longer. There are so many dry shampoos in the drug store and they are super affordable, one of my favorites is the Tresemme one.

Moving on to styling after washing my hair, My hair gets super frizzy so I after washing it I always put in leave in conditioner, which definitely helps tame the frizz and smooth it out. My all time favorite leave in conditioner is 'it's a 10 miracle leave in conditioner', I love how it comes in a spray bottle so I can evenly distribute it through out my hair and doesn't weigh my hair down at all. A cheaper alternative that I like as well is the Garnier Fructis leave in conditioner which gets the job done as well but have to use it sparingly because it does weigh down the hair a little bit.

Like I mentioned earlier my hair is wavy/curly so after applying the leave in conditioner, I put in a coin sized amount of mousse throughout the lengths of my hair, this just helps keep the curls in place and not get frizzy. I really like the John Frieda Frizz ease curl reviver mousse, it just checks all the right boxes for my hair.

One last thing that I use to help keep frizz at bay is dry oil, usually after styling my hair or on days that I don't wash my hair and I notice frizziness, I use 1-2 pumps of the Dove dry oil, rub it between my fingers and apply it evenly through out my  hair. I love the dry oils because they don't make your hair greasy at all but at the same time get rid of dryness/frizziness in your hair.

Before using any heat style styling tools, I always use a heat protectant on my hair, just helps keep my hair healthy and not damage it with the heat. I always use oil based heat protectant because I think that suits my hair type and helps with getting rid of the frizz as well. I really like the sexy hair heat protectant, I love that it comes in a spray so I can evenly distribute it and smells amazing.

Lastly I take the Nature's bounty extra strength hair, skin and nail supplements every night. I definitely recommend taking supplements containing biotin if you're trying to grow out your hair, I've noticed my hair grows a lot faster and longer when I use biotin (check with your doctor before you take any supplements).

Hope these tips and products are helpful, leave me a comment below and let me know what your tips and tricks are.

I don't need a Valentine, I need Valentino!

Hello everyone!

Since Valentine's day is around the corner I thought I would do a post that hopefully will give you some outfit inspiration. Instead of doing the usual red or pink, I decided to keep the outfit monochrome with a pop of color on the lips. I wore my heart print, black, button down maxi dress that I bought from piperlime.com around two years ago, which I thought would be appropriate for Valentine's day. Since it's too cold to actually wear a maxi dress, I decided to double it as a long kimono/cover up over a black skater dress and tights. The weather decided to warm up a bit on Wednesday so I immediately took advantage of it and grabbed my cousin to take some outfit pics for me but unfortunately it's cold again :(

Decided to keep the overall accessories theme silver so wore my big dial Fossil watch with this outfit, a few dainty bracelets and this Milano black, leather cross body.

I loved how the dress flowed and added a unique touch to the whole outfit.

I paired this outfit with these cute bow heels I bought from DSW last year, ever since I saw pictures of Emma Watson wearing the Louboutin Butterfly Booties a few years ago, I've been coveting them so as soon as I saw this similar but way more affordable pair, I had to buy them.

Kept the accessories quite simple and just paired the look with this long Hand of Hamsa necklace I got in clearance from the Bethany Mota collection from Aeropostale.

Here's a close up look of my make up and another accessory you could pair the outfit with (statement necklace). I absolutely love this red lipstick; it's the Sephora collection cream lip stain in 01 Always red. It's a liquid lipstick that dries down to a matte finish and sits very comfortably on your lips. Also perfect for a night out, doesn't budge off your lips, you can eat/drink and won't need touch ups.
